Sleep, Relax, Restore: Build Your Perfect Bed

MAY 03|4 min read

It’s that time of year again – we’re digging out our fluffy blankets, stacking the cushions high and settling in for the winter.

While you swap over your homewares, make sure to think of your bedding as well. On icy mornings and even chillier nights you’ll be glad you’ve made the change.

On cold mornings, wrap up in a quilt that has thermal properties. Look for a wool filling in a heavier weight that will trap warmth while still allowing you to regulate your body temperature.  Wool is also great for allergy and asthma sufferers, and will protect against bacteria and odours. A goose down filling is a luxurious option for your quilt, and will keep you warm while feeling incredibly light and soft.

Lay the foundation for your winter bed with a comforting mattress topper or protector. Designed with cushioning layers that reduce pressure points, mattress toppers provide extra support and will give you a more restful sleep. On the other hand, mattress protectors will keep your mattress in perfect condition for longer, are designed to offer a more breathable sleep and can have anti-bacterial properties. You can use them separately, or layer if you choose.

While a new pillow won’t necessarily keep you warm, you’ll be surprised by how much difference it can make. A good pillow will support your neck and head, and dampen any pressure points that could cause you to wake up in pain. Choose from a range of fillings such as wool, latex or bamboo to find your perfect fit.
