“The art that was used for my Adairs collection was inspired by Country. Local landscapes, sunrises, saltwater and rainbows! It’s a reminder to stay grounded and surround yourself with the simple things in life.” – Brad Turner
Brad’s debut home collection for Adairs showcases a selection of his original paintings, carefully printed onto 100% organic cotton bed linen, statement home accessories and gorgeous nursery pieces that match back with our adult’s range.
Meet Brad Turner
We spoke to Brad Turner about his background and his first home collection with Adairs.
Brad, tell us how you first got into drawing and painting?
“I only started painting Indigenous art about 18 months ago. Initially it was to connect my daughter to her culture and heritage, little did I realise at that time sharing this moment with her was going to change my life!”
Can you talk us through your creative process?
“Capturing special moments, connecting and interpreting them into art is sometimes very tricky but I love this part of my work. When I create pieces for my collections it is from a place of gratitude, so I like to use colours that reflect our culture but also like to add pops of colour.”
What are you looking forward to as part of your collaboration with Adairs? Were you already a fan of Adairs?
“Yes, a funny story actually! When we were starting out my wife sat with me and we did a vision board to manifest what we wanted more of in our business. She asked what brands we would like to work with on a collaboration and Adairs was on the top of the list. A few months later we were contacted by Adairs. At first we couldn’t believe it and thought it wasn’t real. As we took each step of the process we had to remind ourselves that it is actually happening!”
What are some of your favourite pieces in the collection?
“It’s just too hard to pick as I love it all. Although I’m so excited for the nursery collection. I think it is perfect! It is so fun but still has a sense of peace, calm and warmth. My daughter loves the Jalngay Nghriyan Quilt Cover and my wife loves the Biren Jagun Coverlet. So, I think whether you're young or just young at heart there is something for everyone.”
