Update your bedroom in an afternoon with a new quilt cover. It's the quickest, most cost-effective style refresh there is, no new furniture or paint required. Our range spans denim, cotton, vintage washed linen, chambray, stonewashed cotton, bamboo, jersey, flannelette and velvet, crafted by our in-house design team across seasonal, traditional, modern and contemporary looks, think embroidered or quilted covers, exclusive geometric quilting, fashionable lace placements or hand-woven tassel detailing. Bed covers suit every size from single to super king, and every shade from green and blue through to white, pink, yellow and textured waffle. Play with a bright cover for summer, rich tones for winter, soft linen for an earthy feel, or white for a hotel-luxury look, whichever way you style it, every quilt cover here (yes, even the velvet ones) is machine washable.
For a breathable feel that stays cool in summer, reach for Vintage Washed Linen, our Gingham quilt covers or Bamboo Linen. If you prefer something smooth, Stonewashed Cotton gets softer with every wash. Flannelette is built for winter, it traps heat in every fibre so you never slide into a cold bed. Ultra Soft Jersey sits neatly in between, warm but breathable and buttery soft to touch, and World's Softest Cotton is a favourite for kids or anyone with sensitive skin.
Thread count is how many horizontal and vertical strands make up a square inch of fabric, the more there are, the softer and warmer the cover will feel, since there's less gap between each strand. It's worth checking before you buy for a specific season: our Bamboo Cotton (600TC) is breathable enough for summer, while a higher thread count cover suits the cooler months better.
Quilt covers come in standard sizes that match the tag on your quilt, from Single through to Super King. If two of you are fighting over the doona, sizing up to a Super King is worth it. Want a lighter top layer instead? A coverlet is the alternative, though it comes in hybrid sizes (Single/Double and Queen/King) rather than matching quilt sizing exactly, since it's a different product without an insert inside it.
A 60% bamboo, 40% cotton weave that's lightweight, silky and reversible. It moves heat away from the body rather than holding it, and comes in Queen, King and Super King.
Brushed for warmth, it traps heat in every fibre so there's no cold-bed shock on the coldest nights. The range shoppers reach for first once the temperature drops.
A breathable, natural-fibre weave that's gentle on skin prone to irritation, and it comes in a wide range of colours, a favourite for kids' rooms.
European pure (French flax) linen at 135–165GSM, cool to warm, with a lived-in softness that improves with every wash. This is the purist's pick, and a favourite among Linen Lovers members chasing ongoing member pricing on the range.
| Fabrication | Thread Count/GSM | Warmth | Hand Feel | Easy Care |
| World's Softest Cotton | 500TC | Cool/Warm/Warmer | Soft, smooth, good drape | Yes |
| Bamboo Cotton | 350–600TC | Warm/Warmer | Lightweight, smooth, silky, reversible | Varies by weight |
| Washed Linen Cotton | — | Cool | Soft touch, linen look, easier care than pure linen | Yes |
| Vintage Washed Linen | 135–165GSM | Cool/Warm | Soft, cozy, relaxed, lived-in, softens with wash | Yes |
Thread count and GSM aren't directly comparable across different fabrics, so let warmth and hand feel guide the choice as much as the number on the pack. If you want the softest everyday cover, look to the higher thread count cotton weaves; if you're after natural texture that keeps improving with age, linen is the one that rewards patience.
Ideal for kids that are sensitive to rough textures, our World’s Softest Cotton is exactly as it sounds – and comes in a massive range of colours, so they’re sure to find their new favourite. The best part is that all our quilt covers (yes, even the velvet ones) are machine washable, making sure it’s easy to care for whichever quilt cover you choose.
You’ve probably heard the phrase around a lot, but you may be wondering – why does thread count matter? Thread count matters because it’s the simplest way to measure how soft and warm a quilt is likely to be. A thread count is how many horizontal and vertical strands make up a piece of fabric, per square inch. The more strands there are, the softer and smoother a fabric will feel against your skin. Because there are fewer gaps between each strand, a higher thread count also means that the fabric will retain warmth better too. Keep this in mind when shopping for cotton or linen quilt covers, as the thread count will effect what time of year the cover is best used for. For example, our Luxury Collection quilt cover sets feature 1000TC, meaning it feels impossibly soft and is perfect for the cooler months. Alternatively, our Bamboo Cotton quilts feature 600TC, making the style breathable enough for your summer bed.
Thankfully, quilt covers come in a standard size - so if you’ve checked the tag on your quilt, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a quilt cover to fit. We’re pleased to offer a massive range of sizes, so no matter which duvet covers you have your eye on, we’ll have it in your size. Many of our customers have a Queen Bed, but if you’re tired of battling it out over the covers, we recommend upgrading to a Super King Bed sized quilt and quilt cover – there'll be plenty of doona to share! If you want a lighter top layer, quilt coverlets are the perfect alternative. Unlike quilts, our quilt coverlets come in hybrid sizes: Single/Double and Queen/King.
Quilt cover, duvet cover and doona cover all mean the same thing. They’re all designed to protect your quilt from dust and dirt, while giving your space some style. Typically, New Zealanders will say duvet cover, while Australians will say doona cover or quilt cover – but there’s no hard and fast rules. The word “doona” is said to come from the Danish word “dyne”, which means down feathers.
Shop our quilt cover sale and buy the best in bedding. With both standard and express shipping options available, there’s so many great ways to shop. Shipping Australia-wide and delivering to New Zealand, our massive range of quilt covers are in-stock and ready for you to add to cart.
